Yes, soon we will be using nanoparticles (billionths of a meter in size) in the production of most physical products. Researchers from all across the globe are starting to get really good at manipulating particles at the atomic level.  This capability will hopefully usher in potential cures for cancer, provide us with clothing that don&#8217;t stain, and promise effecient solar panels to provide cheap energy.</p>
<p>For ease of understanding, we think of nanoenhanced products as the use of smaller and smaller component parts in making all types of physical products.  Because the actual size of the parts determines the differing results of how the finished product performs, we end up with products which are stronger, or which weigh less, or are more stain resistant.</p>
<p>Real applications of nanoenhanced products have moved out of the labs and into the the commercial markets.  We have today suntan lotions, cosmetics, protective coatings, stain resistant clothing, etc &#8211; all are much improved on the earlier versions of the products prior to the use of nanoparticles. The emergence of nanoenhanced Products will have a deeply transformative impact on more or less all aspects of our lives &#8211; political, social, economic, and philosophical.</p>

<div><br/><br/>I’m wondering, for example, you take medicine for a painful kidney (this is just for instance). How does the medicine know exactly where to go? Let’s take this a step further and pretend we are dealing with nanotechnology. How would the nanos (basically, really small particles) know where to deposit the drugs to the kidney? Is there some sort of chemical reaction going on, and if so, how and what?
